Northwestern Learning

Welcome to The Block, where we ask:

“How do fields of human endeavor and creativity intersect in unexpected ways to yield entirely new ways of thinking?”

Join us in using art as a springboard for conversation about our world.  We welcome the Northwestern community to partner with the museum as a incubator for learning.

Northwestern Teaching and Research

The Block supports teaching with visual art across Northwestern campuses. We are actively reimagining the museum as Northwestern's most innovative laboratory. The Block's programs are uniquely suited to raise and debate essential questions about contemporary life and our place in it,  and we actively partner with faculty to explore the historical, cultural, and social contexts of our world through art.   Learn more about our resources to support interdisciplinary teaching and research.

Northwestern Student Connections

Northwestern students are deeply involved with the life of the museum. They drive the artistic conversation by curating exhibits, participating in strategic planning, contributing to publications, creating new communications platforms, and working directly with resident artists. These experiences invite new ideas and perspectives, inviting students to think critically and acquire skills that will enhance their personal and professional lives.
