Giving Opportunities

What your gifts support

A resource for teaching and integrating the visual arts into student life, the Museum offers educational programs serving a wide range of audiences and is also distinguished by such features as:

  • Rotating, scholarly exhibitions that investigate unexplored areas in art history and many other disciplines.
  • A permanent collection with more than 4,500 works on paper such as prints and drawings and an outdoor sculpture garden.
  • Virtual exhibitions and online projects, such as The Last Expression: Art and Auschwitz.
  • The Main Gallery, at $1 million: The largest exhibition space (3,600 square feet) in the building, the main gallery features natural light and movable walls that allow flexibility in the presentation of exhibits.
  • The Library, at $500,000: The library houses an extensive collection of books and periodicals directly relating to exhibitions, collections, research, and art history.
  • Staff Offices, at $25,000 each: The Block Museum houses 10 staff offices.

Annual Fund

Annual contributions are the life-blood of the Block Museum and provide for essentials such as daily operations, presenting exhibitions, providing educational programming, and supporting collections management (which includes cataloguing, storage, and conservation).

Endowment

Endowment opportunities provide funding in perpetuity for the Block Museum. This is a significant source of annual operating income. These opportunities start at $50,000 and are available in the following categories:

  • Exhibitions
  • Collections
  • Outreach/Education
  • Research

Exhibition Underwriting

Opportunities are available for many of the exhibitions featured in the gallery spaces of the Block Museum. Exhibitions are coordinated with Northwestern's quarterly academic calendar and occur throughout the year.
