Scores: Between 1950 and 1970: Christian Wolf, Edges

Edges is a score that uses many symbols adopted from traditional notation, but places them in a very sparse and minimal space, where they do not operate in their normal state. Instead Edges is a score that encourages the performer to explore its various spaces and play its symbols at ones leisure. Wolff himself never had any formal musical training, and one of his main interests in music was how musicians interacted with each other and with their music when it occurs in unpredictable ways. 1 of 2
