Scores: Between 1950 and 1970:
John Cage, Music of Changes

Music of Changes, composed by John Cage in 1951 was named in honor of the I Ching, or Book of Changes, the ancient Chinese book of oracles that became Cage's means of producing chance with discipline. Cage's notation delivered a new concept of musical time, placing the performer in a new relation to the score. Music of Changes includes both traditional western notation as well other graphical elements.
