About Day for Night

DAY FOR NIGHT is a student-written magazine that offers a diverse analysis of film. In part a supplement to the student programming at Block Cinema, in which all the authors participate, the magazine suggests different ways of understanding and enjoying today’s most pervasive art form—the moving image.

The Film and Projection Society (FPS), a student-run film society at Northwestern University, is dedicated to fostering film culture on campus through exhibitions of rarely-screened films, a biannual publication, and special events featuring scholars, critics, and filmmakers. Through collaborations with Block Cinema, FPS’s members participate in every aspect of film exhibition, from programming to projecting, from marketing to theatre managment. FPS creates an environment for film appreciation on campus that is rich in education, art, and entertainment. Block Cinema is sponsored in part by a generous gift from the Louis Family Foundation, Dr. James B. Pick and Dr. Rosalyn M. Laudati, and through proceeds from special screenings and audience ticket sales.

The publication and online version of Day for Night are generously underwritten by Susan and David Gersh.
