Rare Films from the Baseball Hall of Fame
(Various clips and short films)
For one night only this summer some of baseball’s greatest players ― including Willie Mays, Ted Williams, Gil Hodges, Phil Rizzuto, and Babe Ruth ― will flash across the screen as Block Cinema presents another treasure lode of films from the archives of the Baseball Hall of Fame. Join program organizer and host David Filipi, film and video curator at Wexner Center for the Arts, Ohio State University, for the exciting line up. See Willie Mays’s 511th home run, newsreel footage of the 1954 World Series game between the New York Giants and the Cleveland Indians, excerpts from the 1951 National League Diamond Jubilee with sports broadcaster Mel Allen and Hall-of-Famers Rogers Hornsby and Tris Speaker, and much, much more.
