Collections
The core of the Block Museum’s collection, prints and photographs, embodies our mission — the study and exhibition of reproducible art forms. It also provides a historical link for the Museum’s exhibitions of contemporary art forms such as video, computer-mediated art, and film.
Not only does the collection distinguish the Block among its sister institutions in metropolitan Chicago and university museums nationally, but it also serves the teaching role of the Museum. Northwestern students and faculty regularly visit the Museum to see works of art from the collection, as do outside researchers and the general public. The collection adds to the intellectual life and cultural wealth of Northwestern, the surrounding community, and entire metropolitan region.
To make an appointment to view works from our collection, contact Senior Curator Debora Wood at 847.491.4000, fax 847.491.2261, or email block-museum@northwestern.edu. Our permanent collection is also searchable online.
